Athlete Rules
Rules for athletes registering to compete in AHC Highland Games events.

Eligibility. Novice competitors must have limited prior experience and no professional participation in Highland Games.

Age. Athletes must meet the minimum age listed for each event.

Sportsmanship. Treat fellow athletes, officials, and spectators with respect throughout the competition.

Safety. Follow all safety guidelines and instructions from event organizers. Look out for yourself and the people around you.

Equipment. Athletes bring their own footwear and clothing, plus any event-specific gear they prefer. AHC provides standard implements for the events themselves.

Event-specific rules. Each event has its own rules, explained at check-in. Be sure you understand them before competing.

Health and fitness. You should be in good enough health to compete safely. If you have concerns, talk to a medical professional before registering.

Drug and doping policy. AHC enforces a strict drug-free policy. Athletes agree to be tested for banned substances if requested.

Liability waiver. Athletes may be required to sign a liability waiver releasing AHC from responsibility for injuries or accidents during competition.

Disqualification. Athletes who break the rules, behave unsportingly, or violate event-specific guidelines may be disqualified.
